If I could buy a ticket to travel
Where would I want to go?
To the hills, to the oceans, or forests,
Or to the mountains capped with snow?
These places I've been to before,
And they've thrilled me to bits each time,
But that's not where this ride will be,
Oh,where do I put my dime?
Perhaps, I know a better place,
I'd travel down my memory lane,
Just the place I wish I could go,
To re-live my childhood again.
I'd like to find the stop where I,
Left my innocent self behind,
I'd like to know when I really grew up,
Enmeshed in the daily grind.
I want to know the station where,
My chirpy-self got away,
I've since searched high and low for her,
I've missed her every single day!
I want the little 'Me' back again,
That is where this ticket is to,
I wish I could find her again one day,
And bid this strange-self adieu!

Oh, what wouldn't I give to travel back in time! Lovely take on the prompt Shubhangi. The yearning for the past is so beautifully brought out!
ReplyDeleteI think there are a lot of us who would love to travel back in time and relive some memories. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteOh that's lovely. It's rather sad how we leave behind a bit of ourselves as we go through life. If only we could go back and pick up those bits!
ReplyDeleteI too would like to be a child again... free and careless... with not a worry of the world. Brilliantly expressed.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I too long for travel.. all the time! :P
ReplyDeleteInteresting how many poems I've seen for this prompt and yours is so what I want to do for myself too, Shubhangi!
