Snug on the
white settee,
He reposes,
Slumps
against its silken head,
She lounges
nearby,
Reclines, props
up against him,
Cozy,
together, in love.
The lights
dim,
A candle
burns in the distance,
Its glow
surreal.
The cool
breeze,
Tickling the
wind chimes,
Their jingling
laughter,
Musical.
The moon
Peeks from behind
the clouds.
Romance
Wafts through
the air.
Bliss.
***
And yet they
remain,
Cozy and yet
so restless,
Together and
yet far away,
Connected and
yet unplugged,
In love but
not with each other.
They lie
unaware,
Of the
moments that pass unnoticed,
Of the moon,
the breeze, the jingle,
Of the
presence
Of one
another.
Romancing a
different universe,
Through the
device they hold in their hands,
Devoid of
each other,
Oblivious to
the drama,
That plays around
them,
Of precious
moments slipping by.
Un-bliss.
Lovely! Well written Shubhangi :)
ReplyDeleteThe story of so many lives around us. What a sad waste of a perfect setting. Wonderfully done.
ReplyDeleteTht device in hand is indeed the cause of so many woes! Loved how you described each of it.. very vivid
ReplyDeleteVery powerful, and so sad. Well done!
ReplyDeletethat is really interesting, loved it!
ReplyDeleteThey may well be "talking" to each other via texting or FB! How do we know for sure? :) I mean, one can always hope for the best, no?! Or maybe they have been married to each other for ages and ages, and just sitting in silence, lost in their own personal, very personal worlds - real or virtual - without any participation of the other in that personal world, can also feel like bliss. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteBefore you kick me out of your blog, let me say that I am merely presenting some optimistic scenarios, that's all :)
that seems to be a TRUE story .. of people around .. wish it did not happen though
ReplyDeleteBikram's
an awesome weave. loved it. :)
ReplyDeleteA Rat's Nibble
Very well written...sad but true, more so these days
ReplyDeleteA sad statement of life in the 21st century! You've captured it so well with this poem.; too much detachment from real relationships for the sake of social media. Definitely "un-bliss".
ReplyDeleteWow! This is simply wow. A sad, but very real depiction of our times.
